North Shore pier engagement
North Shore pier engagement idea came out of blue I have to admit. T+S booked us at the latest Vancouver Wedding and Honeymoon show. Since their wedding is next August, they came up with the idea to let all the guests and family to know about it very unique way. They decided to shoot a short movie film about them with – Save the date theme. As soon as I heard it, I was hooked. I was thinking to shoot s story from the whole movie shoot, but because it took place on multiple locations and days, I decided to do some night scenic shoot with the couple on the last night of the shooting.
Couple lives in North Vancouver so they wanted theme with North shore around them. Both of them are great athletes so a rugby field came as a bonus here. Just want to note, all the images showed in this post were created in between breaks when the videographer had a great and I stepped in to create these kind of scenic portraits. We had discussed with videographer that during their work my radio controlled multiple flashes would be disturbing for their work, so I was more than happy to offer them to photograph mostly when they are done with their part on that location. This was hard also on the couple if you think how cold it must be at the water in mid November in the very late evening.
Both bride and groom to be were holding up very well, and even though we were literally driving, running, shooting and driving in very fast pace to finish everything before the supposed night rain showed up, we had a really great time. Gotta admit when I look at the next shot of the bride lit by the Carson Graham rugby stadium lights that poor videographer who was helping me out with light stands was out of nowhere hit by my flash which felt straight on her glasses while she was helping me to put the light on the dress for this image. Thank you again for surviving 🙂 and helping me.
Just before another team moved to have a practise on the field we were already sitting in the cars and driving down the Lonsdale ave towards the Pinnacle hotel parking lot. The Vancouver downtown was beautifully lit and the clear air gave us perfect conditions for these kind of scenic low light wedding style shots our brides adore so much.
North Vancouver pier is such a romantic looking location at the dusk, I just wished we were there as well 2 hours before when there was still some light in the sky. But even with complete black sky, the drama and beauty speaks for itself. And then when we turned around the Pinnacle hotel gave us this kind of sparkling background.
Mixing video light with my flashes gave me chance to freeze a motion in couples dancing even at these crazy low light situations. Couple was hoping for some unique and different looking images from this session so I believe we achieved exactly that. And since we really specialize in scenic wedding pictures from amazing locations here is my perosnal favourite image from the day. Thank you for visiting and if our imagery caught your eye I can not wait to meet you at our next coming wedding show on January 9 and 10 at the Westing Bay hotel in Vancouver. We are platinum exhibitor again, and you can check all the other vendors here.
