Destination wedding in Europe
As many of you know I spent this May in Europe working on couple destination weddings and portrait projects. It was really nice to be on old continent to photograph these sessions again after couple years, yet this time the weather thing did not work our quite well.
During the first wedding the rain in the morning was so heavy we almost did not have a bridal session. Luckily it stopped so we managed that outdoor. As the opposite for the very last wedding which was just a day before my return flight back to Vancouver it got even worse with a day filled with just rain and rain and rain… You say rainy Vancouver, haha… I do not think so anymore by looking at these amazing hot summer days.
Well, long story short, here is a bride and groom session done in the rain and then luckily the couple decided to go inside a Palace in old town to safe the make-up and the hair for the rest of the day. Great decision, even though I had to completely get changed for the reception part including my shoes floating on my feet 🙂
Janka and Marek had an hunger after creative wedding formals filled with historic buildings, hundreds of years old architecture and sunny park views… Luckily they were openminded, and while we tried for couple minutes cruise around old city in Bratislava, there was no chance we could get a decent images in such a heavy rain. Even the busiest streets were empty and and only tourist in vintage old cars were driving around us.
So before getting soaked in and running out of time while hiding under the overhangs of hundreds years old buildings we evacuated to one of the Palaces where we paid the photography fee to shoot interior bridal formals. No studio lights, just one flash and tiny windows of the building were our light-source. But the places we went had such a character, I was glad that I could create rather dramatic looks which suite this wet experience 🙂
A low light moody rooms gave the session nice soft feel. Guys enjoyed the warmth interior after running in the rain and faces were shining with smiles and happiness 🙂
And before we rushed back to the venue we still managed to visit one funky museum to get some untraditional portraits of the groom and bride.
Not every destination wedding in Europe has a day filled with a rain but these guys will remember the fun it brought for them for years to come.
Thank you Janka and Marek for your great attitude how you dealt with the weather thing, I had a great time work with you and wish you all the best in your lives.
There is one more destination wedding coming soon to our Povazan Photography portfolio website. Stay tuned.
