Vancouver Wedding Honeymoon show
The Vancouver Wedding Honeymoon show this weekend at downtown Convention centre was an amazing experience. We are still very excited and proud because we pretty much accomplished our mission 110%. But let me start from the beginning.
If you have ever visited this Vancouver Wedding Honeymoon show you probably have an idea what is it all about. Weddings. Brides. Grooms. Ok guys do not take me wrong but you really surprised me a good way, because you showed up in a really big number so kudos to all of you :). The whole marathon started for us back in January 2014 when we decided to be a part of this venue. We have been photographing Vancouver brides and grooms since 2009 after we cam back from traveling around the world. Since then the business has grown. We won a couple very prestigious awards in wedding industry and our unique, edgy but fun scenic style became very popular among our clients. So after long marketing discussions and strategic planing we chose a simple yet elegant booth style. We wanted to be modern yet also very clean at the same time. We build the whole wall system by ourselves as a fun project.
The huge 24×36 prints were printed on gallery style German etching textured paper to give them amazing look. Maria planned all the decorations, chose the colour palette and found vendors who were happy to collaborate with us on this project. The special thank you belongs to Alexis from Simply Perfect Flowers.
We had met her at one of ours Harrison Hot Springs weddings this year and her orchids floral decoration was so amazing brides thought they could not be real. Her motto – “combining traditional beauty with a unique and modern burst of flair” expresses best how much she loves what she does. Even though her business is based in Abbotsford she serves the whole lower mainland and personally delivered the flowers a day before the show directly to Canada Place. If you are looking for a detail oriented artist we are so happy to recommend her to the most demanding clients.
The booth was put together on Saturday /with a huge help of our friends Paul, Milan and Paul+Doda – Thank you guys / a day before the show and because this was the first time we had used this system of walls we were hoping it was standing in the morning like we left it night before 🙂
We arrived very early on the day of the Vancouver Wedding Honeymoon show to finalize our decoration with customized crystal USB flash drives in white pearl leather, which every client receives from us with their wedding images on them. Black and white matted art prints were set up around the walls, so visitors could actually touch them and feel how amazing these gallery style artsy pictures can look hung in their own living rooms.
Just before the show started, we had a chance to say hi to our vendor friends which we knew from our previous weddings, such as Scott, an amazing DJ from Garry Robertson DJ Entertainment, who was kind of the ‘MC” for the whole venue. We were amazed by Chick and Unique Event Design, and Kristy, the founder was a joy to talk to. Our brides love the style these girls showed at the show and I think there is going to be a great cooperation between us in the future. And of course we cannot forget about our fellow photographers and cinematographers. Without us there would be no tangible memories from all these wedding celebrations and there was a handful of some of the best Vancouver photographers and videographers in the room.
The show started at 11 AM and here comes the shocker – literally five minutes after that, our booth was crowded! I am not joking. We had our certain expectations and beliefs that the wedding imagery we produce from every single wedding we photograph will to stir the pot and shake the ground for the right clients, but such a great start up was amazing. We could not even move at some point. There was no chance to pass brides the pricing or show them an album from our collections because it was so busy down there. Questions, more questions, heavy lifting of our books from Finao New York, touching the special coated canvas which was so rare, almost everyone wanted to touch it etc…
By the time the first wedding gown catwalk started we had already booked a couple wedding dates for the upcoming season. The joy of knowing that our hard work had already brought us new excited clients was simply unbelievable. We knew we cam here to deliver and impress, but so fast? So no wonder when the models finished their presentation and music was muted a bit, the brides and grooms were back with even more questions. Now, when they already had a chance to go around and compare what others have to offer, they came back and the whole process of crowded booth, explaining our products and signing bookings could start all over again. A dream come true experience.
Who would have thought about George Clooney and Amal Allamudin wedding which was happening at the very same time in Venice? Well I would if I had time, but we only stopped being busy when the clock said 4PM. And let me tell you, before that happened we made couple brides, their moms and brides maids sad because the dates filled up so quickly there was no room for them to book us anymore. We even had to say no to a bride whose wedding was in Turkey in mid May but because we already had booked another destination wedding in Europe for the same weekend we could not accommodate her. Oh boy, I would love to go and photograph that wedding but the one we have instead is just as interesting 🙂
As a Diamond Exhibitor our photography style earned us some amazing new clients and we could not be more happier with the outcome of this great show. Gary Meister founder of this whole event stopped by at our booth and literally had to wait till I had a chance to shake his hand and honestly say that me and Maria were absolutely impressed and could not wait to see him and all other vendors at January 2015 Vancouver wedding fair at Westin Bay Hotel.
And the last but not the least is our huge THANK YOU to all of you brides and grooms who stopped by at our booth. To all of you who booked us to photograph your wedding celebrations, we are honoured and excited to work with you. You are the reason why we are where we are, that we can do what we love to do, because you find it unique, amazing and unforgettable. We love to work with all of you and wish you an exciting wedding experience and joy from your very own pictures we create for you. Mazel tov.
